The Railyard, an outdoor food venue based around shipping containers, has closed for the season.

Located at 2442 S. Sixth St., just north of the newly constructed overpass on South Sixth Street, the four shipping containers situated around a 3,000-square-foot outdoor dining space each offer a different menu. There is a taqueria, Texas-style barbecue, Japanese and a patio bar offering beer and wine, along with margaritas.

The brick-and-mortar building on site, Zuba’s Café and Creamery, serves coffee, pastries, sandwiches and homemade ice cream.

A statement posted on Facebook by owners Kirk and Marilyn Jefferis read: "The Railyard’s first season has been fun, exciting and rewarding, and we’ve enjoyed introducing our venue to the Springfield community. We have decided to close our venue for the season and want to thank you for your support and encouragement and valuable feedback since our April opening.  We have loved getting to know so many of you throughout the months and look forward to seeing you next spring."

Kirk Jefferis told SBJ The Railyard will still host private parties and pop-up events during the off-season.
