Trish & Mary’s Public House, the first new venture in Vinegar Hill Mall, is opening Friday, Oct. 13.
The English-style pub will feature an indoor beer garden offering European beers and liquors, British-themed snacks and darts. TVs will show international and European football, World Cup and American soccer.

The new pub is named in honor of the company’s bookkeepers. “Trish is our current bookkeeper and Mary was our other bookkeeper who unexpectedly passed away right as we were moving our offices into Vinegar Hill Mall – she was so excited about it,” Karen Conn told SBJ.
Trish & Mary’s will be open 4-10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 4-11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.
Owners Court and Karen Conn have several other projects simultaneously underway in the Vinegar Hill Mall, including a reopening for Wm. Van’s Coffee House. The coffee shop at the corner of Seventh and Jackson streets closed in April 2022 and 7th Street Cidery later opened in the space.

There are also plans for the former Pawn King space, which occupied a significant portion of the building. “We’re working with Land of Lincoln Winery; they’re moving their production facility here (from Peoria) and adjacent to that, they’ll have a tasting room,” Conn said. “You’ll be able to see what they’re doing during the production.”
Conn said she hopes to have both Wm. Vann’s and the winery space open around the first of the year. There are also plans to open a Southern-style restaurant in the former Julia’s Kitchen space.
Conn said the idea is to build a central commissary that can be utilized for multiple spaces within the building.
“This property is massive, and it needs so much that the kitchen just isn’t ready yet,” she said, explaining the decision to focus on the restaurant space last.
