The Painted Tin Bin is bringing paint parties to the Red School Mall.

Owner Erin Saxton-Snodgrass said she initially worked for It’s Scrapicated, a metal-fabricating business in town, before deciding to go out on her own about eight years ago.

“I had an idea to go to people with a paint party,” she said. “I took all of the things you needed to paint to people.”

For the first couple years, she operated out of her garage. “After COVID hit, I took the leap of having my own space,” Saxton-Snodgrass said. “It took a lot to move all the stuff out every time somebody wanted a party. Now people can come (to my location) and create there and not worry about their house being messy or finding a space for them and their friends to use.”

The first brick-and-mortar location for The Painted Tin Bin was in a warehouse on North Street, but Saxton-Snodgrass said she outgrew it and had been looking at other options for a while when a suite at the Red School Mall came available for rent.

The new space at 1275 Wabash Ave. has a larger area that Saxton-Snodgrass uses to host DIY workshops and private events. “It’s a space where people can create freely and happily – it’s a paint-friendly area,” she said. “It holds the lucky number 13 adults, or I also do kids’ parties, so it could accommodate a few more children than that.”

A grand reopening is planned for Saturday, Oct. 5, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
