Taki Taco ice cream shop opening soon

A new kind of ice cream is coming to Springfield. Taki Taco has posted a “coming soon” sign at 2955 Lindbergh Blvd. and the business is advertising online for employees.

Taki Taco will offer taiyaki soft gelato and rolled gelato tacos. Taiyaki is a popular Japanese dessert made from a waffle-like batter and molded into a fish-shaped cone, which holds the ice cream. The bottom is usually filled with a sweet red bean paste, similar to the way drumsticks are put together.

In addition to offering soft serve, rolled ice cream and milk shakes, Taki Taco’s Facebook page touts gluten-free and lactose-free options.

The former Creve Coeur Camera in Parkway Pointe closed in 2019, and last May, renovations began to accommodate two new tenants. In July, Shawn Miller opened his own Allstate Insurance Agency in one portion of the former Creve Coeur Camera space.

According to building permits filed with the city of Springfield, Thai and Hang Phuong will be the owners of Taki Taco. They could not be reached for comment.
