Stacy Kelly joins Senior Services of Central Illinois

Stacy Kelly has a new job as the Choices for Care coordinator for Senior Services of Central Illinois, and she says this position has allowed her to return to her passion for working with seniors.

Kelly was most recently the volunteer and program coordinator for United Way of Central Illinois. Prior to that, she spent nearly five years as the manager of education and community volunteers for the Alzheimer's Association.

"When I made the switch to United Way, I discovered that I really missed working directly with constituents, particularly with seniors," Kelly said. "I had (previously) been on the Senior Services board for six years, so I already knew the organization pretty well."

Kelly said her new position at Senior Services of Central Illinois, 701 W. Mason, is a state-mandated role through the Illinois Department on Aging.

"I go into the hospitals for someone age 60 or older or someone 18-59 with a disability who is being discharged when there's a possibility that they might be discharged to a nursing facility," she said. "I do an assessment and then educate them on choices that may be available to them to support them when they return home and help keep them as independent as possible."
