Roofers Mart, a St. Louis-based construction supply company, is expanding into the Springfield area. In December, the company purchased the building located at 1700 Clear Lake Avenue in Springfield, which has been occupied by several construction companies over the years. Originally built for Construx of Illinois, it was most recently leased to Mid-Illinois Companies.
Roofers Mart was founded in 1983 and has grown to five locations in Illinois, Missouri and Kentucky. Springfield will become the sixth location for the company, which primarily targets professional contractors. Despite the name, Roofers Mart also sells siding, windows and doors for both residential and commercial projects.
“We have done some business in the Springfield area previously,” said Laura Vierling, marketing manager. “We’ll be hiring local employees for this location and looking to invest into the area.”
Vierling said the company is currently remodeling the building and plan to be open by March or April. “We hope to be an asset to the Springfield area,” she said.
