Springfield will soon have its first Potbelly Sandwich Shop. Rob Wilbern, a certified public accountant who also owns Robert’s Automotive and several other businesses in Springfield, has signed a franchise agreement with the parent company for Potbelly.
“The support of the leadership team is what drew me to Potbelly – I was looking at a couple of different franchise opportunities and did a good amount of research. Potbelly stood out among the rest,” said Wilbern in a written statement. “Plus, the quality of food and extensive menu is unmatched. With a large student population and active residential and business community in the area, we’re confident Potbelly’s toasty sandwiches and robust rewards programs will be a hit.”
Potbelly first opened in Chicago in 1977 and has now expanded to 400 corporate-owned locations throughout the U.S. and another 40 franchised restaurants. The company is planning to increase the number of franchisees and target additional markets throughout the country as part of a franchise growth acceleration initiative.
