Green Family Stores will open the doors of its new Hyundai dealership Nov. 1. The 30,000-square-foot facility at 601 W. Stanford Ave. broke ground in
May 2022.
The new store is intended to be more centrally located, while the current Hyundai facility at 1200 S. Dirksen Parkway will remain open as a dealership for used vehicles and a service center.
The Stanford Avenue dealership is one of five prototypes nationwide to roll out the new format for the Hyundai brand, including more space devoted to electric vehicles.
The service drives for both locations will be closed Wednesday and
Thursday to accommodate the move and will reopen Friday morning, according to
Rachael Buraski, director of marketing for Green Family Stores.
An employment open house was held Oct. 18, and Buraski said
approximately 12 employees have been hired for the new location, although “we’re
always looking for more technicians.”
A grand opening and ribbon cutting will be scheduled for a future
date, but Buraski said that the public is invited to stop by and tour the new
dealership any time. “Starting on Thursday, we’ll have breakfast from Hy-Vee in
there during the week through Nov. 8, so we welcome everyone to come out and
see us,” Buraski said.
