Luminary Counseling & Solutions is relocating and the owners plan to significantly expand the practice, less than five years after opening.
“We opened in March 2020, just as everything shut down,” said co-owner Lauren Henton, who opened the practice at 3050 Montvale Dr. along with Katie Romang. “I had left a large health organization and she had left a social work practice to take a chance on something new. The first couple of weeks, we thought, ‘What did we do?’ but as it turns out, the need was higher than ever.”
The goal of launching Luminary
was to empower women and teen girls, with a special focus on working with
pregnant and post-partum women for maternal mental health. “We want to help new
moms balance what life looks like now with who they want to be,” said Henton.
As of Oct. 1, Luminary will be
operating out of 3695 S. Sixth St., taking about half of the Martin Engineering
building. The 4,100-square-foot suite will be a significant expansion from the
current 1,300 square feet and will include seven treatment rooms plus community
gathering space.
“We’ve had five of us operating
out of a four-office suite, so now our fifth person will be able to go
full-time and we’ll also hire two additional clinicians,” Henton said. The practice
will also continue to offer telehealth appointments but the expanded space will
help provide the full therapeutic experience, she said.
“Our whole design is to make
this more of a spa feel instead of an institutional feel,” Henton said. “We
want our clients to feel like this is self-care instead of a problem to be
solved.”
