HomeGoods, a discount home décor store, will open a 23,945 square foot store in Springfield on Sunday, July 22. The store is located in White Oaks Plaza at 2951 West Iles Avenue in the building that formerly housed Office Max. This will be the first Springfield location for HomeGoods, which already has locations in the Bloomington and Peoria markets.

“Our amazing values, brand names, and vast assortment make HomeGoods an exciting destination for shoppers,” said John Ricciuti, president of HomeGoods. “With a large variety of special merchandise from around the world, customers will always find something thrilling in our treasure hunt environment at great values. We are happy to provide Springfield with a local HomeGoods.”

HomeGoods operates more than 650 stores nationwide and is a division of The TJX Companies, Inc., an off-price retailer of apparel and home fashions that also operates T.J.Maxx, Marshalls, Sierra Trading Post and Homesense.

Marshalls, which has multiple locations in the Chicago area along with stores in Peoria and Fairview Heights, also recently announced plans to locate in Springfield. (“Marshalls coming to Springfield.” Illinois Times, July 12, 2018.)

Seritage Growth Properties, a real estate company specializing in shopping centers, has been overseeing a major redevelopment of Sherwood Plaza, located at the intersection of Wabash and Veterans. Dean O’Neill, vice president of development, stated via email that Marshalls had signed a lease for the space next to Burlington Coat Factory and anticipated opening around June 1, 2019.
