Eagle Golf and Grill to open on Springfield's west side

Eagle Golf and Grill, a public golf training facility with a full-service restaurant and bar, is in the works on Springfield’s west side.

“If you think of the competitive sports market, we’re trying to serve that market for golf,” said Jim Lee, who co-owns the business along with his wife, Amber Lee, and Josh Edison, a golf coach at Illinois College in Jacksonville.

“My wife has experience in the hospitality industry, so she’ll run the restaurant and bar, and Josh will give golf lessons,” Lee said. “My background is in construction management, so I’m overseeing the renovations.”

The property at 3941 Pintail Drive has been vacant since Pickups Plus relocated to a nearby building on Wood Duck Drive. Lee said Eagle Golf and Grill will include five golf simulator bays, a 1,200-square-foot indoor putting and chipping green and a training area for students, in addition to the restaurant and bar.

“We’ll have a youth academy working with kids starting in junior high all the way through college,” Lee said. “The competitive circuit is growing in popularity, but we really want to emphasize the family side of things. We hope everybody comes in with a smile, whether it’s the workers or the players, because they love the environment.”

Lee said he anticipates having Eagle Golf and Grill open in November.
