Kara Rapacz leaving Sacred Heart-Griffin High School

Kara Rapacz, the principal at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, announced her resignation April 28.

Rapacz has been with SHG for 16 years. She was the assistant principal and director of academic support services before being hired as SHG's first lay principal in July 2017. Rapacz was recognized as one of Springfield Business Journal's Forty Under 40 in 2019.

“Kara is a real loss to SHG,” said Sr. Katherine O’Connor, OP, President of SHG in a written statement sent out by the school. “She has been an outstanding principal. I am grateful for her dedicated service.”

O'Connor, the longtime president of the school, is also leaving at the end of the school year due to retirement.

When asked for comment, Rapacz provided the following statement to SBJ: "I have spent a lot of time in prayer and reflection this school year and have decided that it is time for a new leader to take my place. I thank all the SHG parents for allowing me to be blessed by their children in such a monumental way throughout the years."
