Virtual conference on the latest in employment law

The Central Illinois Chapter for the Society for Human Resource Management (CIC-SHRM) will hold its annual legislative conference on Tuesday, April 25, from 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. to share what’s new in employment law. This half-day educational event will be held virtually and is open to both members and non-members.

Topics covered will include the following:

Employment law update: Neil Dishman, principal in the Chicago office of Jackson Lewis P.C., helps employers prevent and resolve disputes with their employees. Dishman will specifically discuss the new Paid Leave law in Illinois and updates to the Illinois One Day of Rest in Seven Act.

Government policy on the national level: Jim Banks, general counsel for SHRM, will share more around government policy and what’s on the horizon from the national level.

Tips and importance of advocacy for HR professionals: Mike Murphy, president of The Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce and former State Representative for the 99th District in the Illinois General Assembly, will address the importance of advocacy and tips for connecting with your legislators.
