Raising Cane’s hiring in anticipation of March 7 opening

Raising Cane’s, a fast-food restaurant specializing in chicken fingers, will be opening at 3100 W. White Oaks Dr. on Tuesday, March 7, a year after announcing a Springfield location as part of the company’s aggressive expansion plans.

“We’re very excited to be planting such strong roots in Illinois,” Jason Zwerin, vice president of company restaurants, told SBJ when plans were first announced.

The new restaurant will be Raising Cane’s 28th location in Illinois. Raising Cane’s began opening locations in the Chicago area in 2017 and is now expanding further downstate.

Initially, Zwerin said the company was planning to have its Springfield location open in the second quarter of 2023. The date was later moved up to target a December opening, then revised to the March 7 opening date.

The 9,000-square-foot building that formerly housed Casa Real was torn down to make way for a new 3,300-square-foot structure that will have a double drive-through window.

Raising Cane’s is now in the process of hiring 120 crew members to staff the Springfield restaurant. Interviews are being conducted Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. on-site, although no walk-ins are being accepted. Interested candidates can schedule an interview by texting RCJOBS to 97211 or visiting WorkAtCanes.com. Starting pay is $15-$16.50 per hour, depending on experience.

Brandon Quinn, area leader of restaurants, said, “Caniacs in Illinois know what it means to share ‘one love,’ so we want to add more fun-loving crew members across Springfield and do just that.”
