David and Tiffany Simmons are taking physical health to the next level. The couple, who own four Snap Fitness franchises in the Springfield area, are now expanding into nutrition with the opening of Shake This Eat That.

Scheduled to open July 30 in the former Grateful Coffee location at 1370 Toronto Road, Shake This Eat That will offer a variety of fruit smoothies along with grab-and-go nutrition items such as protein bars. The business has also partnered with The Vitamin Shoppe to offer pre-workout items and supplements.

“We always wanted to be able to incorporate nutrition, supplements and easy, on-the-go stuff,” said David Simmons. “Everything fell right in place for us to be able to expand.”

When Grateful Coffee closed at the end of January, just shy of its one-year anniversary, Simmons said it struck him as an ideal location to expand. The Snap Fitness located in the same plaza off Toronto Road was the first one the couple acquired in December 2018. Six months later, they purchased the Chatham Snap Fitness and later added Auburn and Sherman locations.

“We want to help people be fit and be the best version of themselves. We like offering that complete wellness option; what you put inside of your body is really important as well,” Simmons said.

Simmons noted that all of Springfield’s vitamin and supplement stores are located on the far west side. “This allows people to not have to travel far to get their basic needs,” he said.

He’s also hoping to capitalize on traffic from the restaurants along Toronto Road. “You can eat out and then get a little sweet treat, but something that’s actually good for you, not just loaded with carbs and sugar.”

Shake This Eat That is having a soft opening this week for Snap Fitness members and will open to the public on Saturday, July 30.

“What we’re offering is nutritious and delicious,” said Simmons. “Finding that sweet spot of something that is good tasting and good for you is where it’s at.”
