Dr. Will Putman has returned to Springfield, and along with his fiancé, Dr. Taylor Johnson, purchased a dental practice from Dr. Robert Burris.

“Dr. Burris has been a family friend, and he reached out that he was planning to retire,” said Putman. “Springfield is a slower pace and a really good city to raise a family.”

After graduating from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2017 and completing a one-year residency at the Nebraska Medical Center, Putman worked for Renken Dentistry in Springfield from 2018-2020. He then relocated to Wisconsin to join a practice with a classmate from dental school.

“We were living north of the twin cities (St. Paul-Minneapolis), spending a lot of time in our car commuting for work and leisure activities,” Putman said. He and Johnson moved back to Springfield at the end of March.

The couple is now operating Putman Dental out of 927 S. Durkin Dr., Suite A, where Burris practiced for nearly three decades.

“We were lucky that we retained all the staff and were able to add some additional staff members,” Putman said. “We’re updating the technology at the office so that we can offer more variety of services.”

The dental practice serves all ages, ranging from children to seniors. Putman said, “We want to create a practice where we look at all of our patients like part of our family.”
