The Cake Shoppe will hold a grand opening Friday, April 8, from 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. at 449 N. Walnut St.
The business will offer ready-made products for retail as well as taking special orders. Were not going to do baked goods other than cake-based, said owner Julie Shuler. Well have cake pops, cupcakes and ready-made fancy dessert cakes for sale.
Shuler said The Cake Shoppe will offer a lot of traditional recipes, along with specialty items such as the Mary Todd Lincoln white almond cake that was purportedly Abraham Lincolns favorite dessert.
Shuler recently finished renovating the freestanding building, which most recently housed Shabby Shack until that business moved to West White Oaks Drive in 2020.
Its the perfect size and theres a lot of traffic along Walnut, she said, noting that the space is also less than a mile from her home.
Samples and giveaways will be available on April 8, along with a full line of Easter options. Regular business hours will be Tuesday through Saturday, 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m.
