Prairie State Hemp (PSH) has opened a retail store in downtown Springfield that will also serve as a wholesale headquarters for its distribution operation. The space at 1 W. Old State Capitol Plaza, Suite 102, is on the north side of the Myers Building at ground level and previously housed Epicure’s Choice Smoke Shop.

“PSH is a hemp farm, cannabis brand and supplier based out of central Illinois carrying a wide range of CBD and THC products,” said Samuel Brubaker, owner and founder. “We started the company by carrying only products that originated from our farm before eventually sourcing from other Illinois hemp farms to expand our product lines and production capabilities. From there we began supplying shops across the state while working with local product manufacturers such as Whimsy Tea Co. and Community Bath to carry a more diverse and unique product line,” he explained.

The farming operation is based in Mt. Vernon, and the company initially began as a wholesale operation supplying retail shops and CBD dispensaries across the state until eventually opening a web-based retail delivery service in the Springfield area with nationwide shipping. The new storefront in downtown Springfield will offer all lines of PSH products in a retail capacity while also serving as a meeting place for wholesale customers.

“We are thrilled to be part of the downtown community in the heart of the Prairie State. Our biggest goals are to educate and spread awareness as we continue to collaborate locally, build community and grow as a company,” Brubaker said. He noted that the store emphasizes local collaboration, including everything from the products carried to a gallery space where local artists can showcase and sell art.

A grand opening celebration will be held on Saturday, April 2, from 12-8 p.m. A ribbon cutting will take place at noon, followed by refreshments catered by Nu-Voh Restaurant and live music performed by Public Display of Frenship from 3-6 p.m.
