Carrollton Bank is in the midst of a significant project at its Springfield location. O’Shea Builders is adding 3,000 square feet to the back of the building at 2135 Wabash Ave., one of a dozen locations for Carrollton Bank throughout central Illinois and the St. Louis and Metro East area.

“We’ve seen significant growth in the Springfield portfolio in addition to the bank’s portfolio,” said Mark Ginster, Springfield branch manager. “I’ve been here 25 years, and when I started, we had $50 million in deposits – now that’s $350 million.”

Ginster said the Wabash location opened in October 2000. “Springfield has also grown quite a bit, and we are running out of room.”

In addition to the building expansion, the interior will be renovated with new furniture and fixtures and the parking lot will be enlarged.

“We’re adding several new offices with the anticipation that we’re going to grow into those offices,” said Mark Vance, senior vice president. “We made a commitment to a couple of new people on our home mortgage side, and I could see that happening on the commercial side as well.”

Ginster noted, “We talk to other people about opportunities not only for loans, but for careers. We’re doing it in a more targeted way, as opposed to posting jobs.” He also said that in addition to expanding the staff, the bank has incorporated a larger product line and “more offerings for our customer base.”

The $1.2 million building addition is scheduled to be completed sometime in April. “We’ll continue to be operating as usual throughout the construction and renovation process,” said Ginster.
