On the Go Boutique has been an online-only store for nearly five years, but will soon have a brick-and-mortar location in Springfield.
Co-owner Anna Hruby said she started the business with a good friend of her who lives in the Nashville area, although the inventory and shipping has always been handled out of Springfield.
“We’ve slowly grown and decided to get a physical presence going,” Hruby said of the decision to purchase the property at 3063 Hamlin Parkway. The building was formerly leased by Bow + Arrow Salon, which has now relocated to West White Oaks Drive and rebranded as Ri & Co Salon.
With 2,500 square feet of space, Hruby said it will allow for expansion. “We’re bringing in all kinds of new brands,” she said. “Current customers will see a lot of the same styles, but probably five times the amount. It opens up our buying quite a bit, which is exciting.”
The shift from online sales to a physical location means additional staff will be needed, and Hruby said they are looking for a store manager and will also be hiring additional hourly staff. The building is currently undergoing renovations and Hruby plans to be open by the end of August.
In addition to expanding the inventory, Hruby hopes to also be able to expand the customer base.
“About 60% of our business is not even in the state of Illinois,” she said. “We’re hoping the local presence helps kind of shift that.”
