The State Journal-Register building at 915 E. Capitol Ave. is back on the market, with a significant price reduction. Last month, Illinois Times reported that the building was under contract to an undisclosed buyer for slightly less than the asking price of $2.9 million. Now, the property is back on the market at a list price of $1.75 million.
The three-story, 135,000-square-foot building has been on the market since 2011 and is mostly vacant, as the SJ-R has moved printing operations and various other departments out of Springfield in recent years.
Sandy Hamilton, a real estate broker with Re/Max Professionals, is the local point of contact for the property but referred questions to the New York-based listing agent, Greg Cleghorn of BellCornerstone. Reached by phone, Gleghorn confirmed the property was back on the market but declined further comment, citing a confidentiality agreement with the property owner.
