MJs Fish & Chicken Express, 716 E. Enos Ave., is reopening this weekend after being closed for renovations since July due to a fire. An overnight fire on July 17 at the property directly behind MJs significantly damaged the roof and back wall of the building.
Jerome Taylor, who co-owns the restaurant with his wife, Margaret, said there was extensive water damage to the dining room ceiling. We had a drop ceiling, so we ended up returning the ceiling to its original height when we redid it, Taylor said. We also redid the bathrooms and have all new flooring and lighting.
However, the menu will remain the same, and the restaurant will continue to offer carry-out only for the time being.
A grand reopening is planned for Friday, Oct. 9 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and dinner hours from 4-9 p.m.
