Cooper's AlleySide closing, catering and food truck to continue

Cooper’s AlleySide, the brick-and-mortar location for the popular Cooper’s StrEATside Bistro food truck, will close on Oct. 30.

Justin and Kendra Cooper opened Cooper’s AlleySide, located inside King Pin Lanes at 3115 E. Sangamon Ave., in April 2017. At the time, the couple told SBJ they had a goal of opening a restaurant since launching the food truck in 2014. The Coopers renovated the kitchen, dining area and bar and were able to take on additional catering jobs and host parties in the bowling alley’s banquet area.

However, a post this morning on the business’ Facebook page said, “Unfortunately, King Pin Bowling Lanes has requested we vacate their premises by presenting us a 30-day eviction notice. Thankfully, we were able to negotiate 60 days to vacate since we have been such loyal, trustworthy and responsible tenants…”

The post referenced that, as a restaurant, Cooper’s AlleySide would be required to operate at half occupancy, and “we have chosen to keep our dining room closed for the safety and well-being of our customers and staff.” The location has been offering items for carryout, along with take-and-bake meals.

According to the Facebook post, the business will continue to operate through catering and food truck events.
