Volkert, a professional services firm with locations in nearly two dozen states, has opened an office in Springfield at 2925 Meadowbrook Rd. as of June 1.

“We do work across central Illinois with Ameren, Prairie Power, IDOT and regulatory agencies here in Springfield,” explained Meghan Oh, an environmental project manager who is based out of the Springfield office along with three other full-time staff and several part-time employees. “It’s a very centralized location, so it’s advantageous for us to be here.”

Volkert’s other office in Illinois is located in Collinsville, with more than 100 employees. Nationwide, the company focuses predominantly on transportation, except for the two Illinois offices, which are piloting an energy initiative.

“One of our main services is commercial real estate for public and private clients,” said Oh, noting that the company will work with land owners on easements, appraisals and relocations on behalf of both public and private clients. At the beginning of the year, Volkert also added new services for environmental surveys, studies and permitting.

“We’re hoping to provide a multi-disciplinary opportunity to clients,” said Oh. “We can be a one-stop shop and offer multiple services at one location.”
