Lenz Sales & Distributing has broken ground on a new facility in New Berlin

Lenz Sales & Distributing, currently located in Jacksonville, has broken ground for a new distribution center in New Berlin. The property on the west side of New Berlin, just north of Dollar General, is located in a TIF district, which Village President Michael Krall said was a factor in attracting the business.

“There was property for sale out there for quite some time,” said Krall. “(The owner) wanted to relocate his freon warehouse and we worked to get him in the TIF district.”

Lenz Sales & Distributing opened in Jacksonville in 1996 and the company sells and distributes various types of refrigerants nationwide as well as to local clients, including NAPA Auto Parts, Landmark Ford, Capitol Group and others. In March, owner Tom Lenz sold his other business, Lenz Field & Sports Complex, also located in Jacksonville. The private sports complex started with one field in 2007 and later expanded to a total of six baseball fields.

Construction on the new facility is expected to be completed by the end of the year and will include two warehouses with loading docks and office space.

In a statement shared on the Village of New Berlin’s Facebook page, Lenz said, “"I'm extremely excited to be moving the company to New Berlin. We looked at several different building sites in and around Springfield, but in the end the New Berlin city council members and the mayor could not have been more helpful in assisting us in this project."
