Tony Smarjesse is now working at ReMax Professionals in Springfield as a full-time Realtor. Smarjesse has been a Realtor since 1992 and has worked for several local real estate agencies, most recently Century 21.
He retired from the State of Illinois as a public service administrator for the Department of Innovation and Technology on Dec. 31, 2019. Smarjesse also worked for the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency, Central Management Services, Department of Human Services and SIU School of Medicine during his 30 years of state employment.
Smarjesse served on the SMEAA board, which oversees the BOS Center, for more than 10 years before stepping down in 2015 when Mayor Frank Edwards appointed him to fill the city council seat vacated by Ward 9 alderman Steven Dove.
