Following the closure of Springfield Archery in August, Kim and Gary Rigney have opened Rigney's School of Archery (RSA) in Chatham. The couple founded the school in 2013 and previously rented space inside Springfield Archery, located at 1550 Recreation Dr., with Kim teaching classes and Gary serving as the store manager.

“We felt it was important to continue to provide a supportive and positive environment for the community we have served for the past several years,” said Kim, president and head coach of RSA. The school offers classes for all ages and ability levels, ranging from introductory instruction to working with injured servicemen and women who are training for the Warrior Games.

RSA occupies approximately 3,000 square feet in the building that formerly housed Sugar Creek Furniture.  Kim noted, “The other location was a retail facility, but we don’t sell anything here; we’re service-oriented only.” Gary takes care of equipment repairs while Kim provides archery instruction. RSA is also offering an all-access range pass for a monthly fee which allows archers to access the facility on their own schedule.

A grand opening is planned for Nov. 2-3 with tours and activities available from 12-5 p.m. both days.
