Almost exactly one year following the closure of Rebound Healthcare Systems, 435 W. Washington, Thrive Center for Wellness has opened in the same location to continue providing services for substance abuse treatment and recovery.
Owner David Vail previously worked as a therapist for Rebound before going into private practice after the business closed last September. However, he said he saw a need for additional treatment options in the community and decided to utilize the previous location, since the space was still available.
Thrive Center for Wellness opened on Sept. 3 and currently provides both individual and group therapy for adolescents and adults struggling with substance abuse or addiction.
“We use a compassionate approach based in trauma-informed care,” explained Vail, who said he is in the process of acquiring a state license that will allow for intensive outpatient treatment for substance abuse as well as DUI evaluations. Vail also plans to offer yoga and meditation classes as part of more holistic treatment options.
Dr. Don Yakel serves as the medical director, overseeing the suboxone and other medically assisted treatment options. Other staff members include Chuck Kerwin, Katherine Galloway, LeAnna Thomlin-Lang and David Kerwin.
