The second annual Local First Springfield Awards will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12 at Springfield Electric & Lighting Design, 700 N. Ninth St., co-hosted by Capital City Event Planning. Food will be provided by Cured Catering and drinks available to purchase from Just the Basics. There is no charge for members or non-members to attend, and tickets can be reserved through www.illinoistimestix.com.

Awards will be presented in several categories, including: Emerging & Energized Award (nominees are Bow and Arrow Salon, Bailey Family Insurance, Serious Lip Balm and Pratt Woodworks); Social Change Maker Award (nominees are Alignlife of Springfield, Sensible Innovations, Johnson & Johnson Auto Service Center and Eck, Schafer & Punke, LLP); Best Collaboration Award (nominees are Scooter’s Lawn Care, Distinctive Designs for Kitchens & Baths, The Arizona Tile Company, Cafe Moxo  and Buzz Bomb Brewing Co.); Innovators Awards (nominees are Buzz Bomb Brewing Co., Casa Real, Just the Basics Mobile Bar and VELE); and Wave Makers Award (nominees are Springfield Electric Lighting & Design, The Gallery of Springfield, Crowdson Creative and Milner Dentistry).

Awards will also be given to the Local First Springfield member of the year and the Local First Springfield Champion Award will be presented by the organization’s president.
