Fulgenzi’s Trattoria and Catering closed its location at 214 W. Chestnut in Chatham a few months ago, but fans of the restaurant’s cuisine will soon have another option. Owner John John Fulgenzi says that while he hasn’t settled on a name, he plans to reopen at 2700 W. Lawrence Ave. in Springfield in the space that previously housed another Italian restaurant, Palermo’s Sicilian Cucina. However, Fulgenzi says the new location will be strictly a catering operation and will not have a dine-in menu.

According to Fulgenzi, his family’s restaurant business started in 1997 with Fulzenzi’s on the Hill in New Salem, followed by Fulgenzi’s Family Restaurant in Athens and then Fulgenzi’s Trattoria and Catering. “The Chatham location was open for 15 years, and that was my third one,” said Fulgenzi. “At this point, I want to make the move to catering only so I can have more time to spend with my son and his activities.”

Fulgenzi said he hopes to have the new location open within the next couple of weeks and plans to offer full-service catering. The 5,350-square foot building in Chatham is currently listed for sale with Sam Nichols of True Commercial Real Estate Services at an asking price of $195,000.
