Upcoming DSI, Inc. workshop

Downtown Springfield, Inc. is holding a workshop on Wednesday, May 29 entitled “Permits and city hall – Who you need to know and where you need to go.” From 12-1 p.m. at Lincoln Library, a variety of city staffers will explain how to work with the Building and Zoning department, the process for applying for permits, fire safety inspections, business licensing, and licensing for liquor and video gaming.

Presenters include Chris Cole, Battalion Chief, Springfield Fire Department; Todd Oliver, Division Manager, Department of Business Licensing and Liquor Commission; Matthew Wolf, Planning Coordinator; and Abby Powell and Kyle Quinn from the Office of Planning and Economic Development.

The workshop is the second part of the Momentum on Main Street series, a way to get more people interested in launching new businesses and taking on small projects in the downtown area. DSI is partnering with the City of Springfield, Innovate Springfield, Illinois Stewardship Alliance and other organizations to explain the steps required and resources available for a variety of concepts.
