Local historians and authors Carolyn Harmon and Tony Leone have written the history of the horseshoe in a book released on May 6, Springfield’s Celebrated Horseshoe Sandwich.

The book highlights the various restaurants and chefs that have served horseshoes throughout the years, along with recipes for different versions of the iconic dish.

On Wednesday, May 15, Harmon and Leone will share anecdotes from the book and The Alamo will provide samples of the Mo’shoe from 5-6:30 p.m. The event will take place at Books on the Square, located at 427 E. Washington in downtown Springfield.

The May 9 edition of our sister publication, Illinois Times, included an overview of the book.
