A new concept has come to Springfield with the recent opening of Sky Lounge, located at 3254 W. Iles in the newly constructed West Iles Business Center. Manager Quay Vuong, whose family owns the business, said he wanted to replicate the look and feel of places he’d seen in larger cities. “I travel a lot, and in Chicago and New York you see places like this.”
While Sky Lounge could technically be classified as a bar and grill, the set up and atmosphere is very different from anything else in Springfield. There are 30 craft beers and six wines on tap, which are all self-serve. “We charge by the ounce, you can sample as much or as little as you want,” explained Quay. “It’s a great way to have a beer and wine tasting.” Sky Lounge also offers a full menu of food, ranging from appetizers to sandwiches and entrees, and Quay said he would like to add a sushi selection in the future.
The business has only been open since Dec. 21, but Quay said the word is already getting out. “We’ve been very busy, especially after 4 p.m. when people come by after work.” The hours are 11 a.m.-11 p.m. from Sunday through Wednesday, and the lounge stays open until 1 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.
