A new clothing store is getting ready to open in downtown Springfield. Corrine Campbell is leasing space at 223 S. Sixth St., next to the new downtown location for Pittman’s Popcorn.

“I used to work at Bergner's for 10 years, up until they closed,” Campbell said. “I came up with this idea to use my retail expertise to open my own place. I’m from Jamaica, and back home I went to design school.”

She said she was inspired to open a resale shop after looking through her own closet and that of her teenage daughter. “Every woman has something extra in their closet,” she said, explaining that she found items in her own closet with tags still on them.

The store will sell gently used clothes for men, women and teens, including plus sizes. Campbell hopes to eventually be able to sell clothes on consignment but said she is still getting the software program in place that will allow her to do that. For now, she is focusing on getting the store ready to open in the next week. “I want it to feel like a boutique, not a resale shop,” she said.
