SBJ has received several inquires about what is being built on the lot just north of Panda Express on North Dirksen in Springfield. Construction is underway at 2720 North Dirksen, with no signage to indicate what might be coming soon. A building permit filed by CFT NV Developments of Rosemead, California, the parent company of Panda Express, indicates plans for a four unit strip center. MCO & Associates of Phoenix, Arizona, is the general contractor and the project is valued at $750,000.
Sub-contractors working at the site told SBJ that the new strip center will be anchored by a Starbucks. However, Scott Clark, the senior project manager with MCO, said he could not confirm any tenants for the project until leases were signed. Clark indicated the building shell was tentatively scheduled for completion in December, with tenant build-out to follow.
