Eric Creviston to open Springfield Monuments

A new tenant will soon be moving into the former Candice’s Bridal space with a very different type of business. The building located at 1824 W. Jefferson in Springfield will become home to a new business, Springfield Monuments.

Owner Eric Creviston purchased Petersburg Monument Company in May of this year. “It’s been around for 130 years, and now we will be expanding into Springfield,” he said. The existing Petersburg location will be used for storage, while the new location in Springfield will become the retail headquarters. In addition, he said there will be space for one additional tenant in the building.

Creviston most recently worked for a local funeral home for the past 10 years, and said he has a background in the industry. “I previously owned a business that restored stones and cleaned them,” he explained. “I’ve always had a passion for this, and I’ve actually wanted to own a monument company for years.”

While he is currently the only employee, he hopes to hire three to five additional people in the near future. A grand opening is scheduled at the new location for Saturday, Sept. 29 from 4- 7 p.m.
