Art4U to open Oct. 1

Kim Votsmier, who has owned the paint-your-own pottery studio China Towne since 2002, is opening a new business in the same shopping center. Art4U will open on Oct. 1 in the former Cocoa Blue Chocolates space, located at 4015 Yucan Drive in Springfield.

“It’s a whole new thing,” explained Votsmier. “It’s an artist co-op, and it’s going to have an assortment of artists from not only the Midwest, but all over the U.S.”

The retail store will carry a wide variety of merchandise including paintings, metal work, clothes and jewelry. “It’s going to be upscale art, not crafty kind of stuff,” said Votsmier.

The hours will be Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturdays from 10:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sundays from 12-4 p.m.
