Hair of the Dog Bar/bershop to celebrate one year anniversary

Hair of the Dog Bar/bershop, located at 323 E. Monroe in downtown Springfield, will be celebrating their one year anniversary this Saturday with an event from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The barbers will offer haircuts to benefit Friends of Sangamon County Animal Control from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and onsite pet adoption will be taking place until noon. There will also be brews on tap from Triptych Brewing, White Oak Brewing, Buzz Bomb Brewing Company, and Anvil & Forge. The bar will be open until 4 p.m.

Owner Jeremy Bredemeyer has already grown the shop to include five barbers. Bredemeyer previously helped found Precision Barbers in Springfield and also had bartending experience, which led him to the idea of combining the two. In an interview with Springfield Business Journal shortly before opening last year, Bredemeyer described the concept for the business.

“What do guys like to do when they get a haircut?,” he said. “I cut hair for six years, and they always talk about drinking, so the idea of meshing the two together makes sense.”
