Mayor Jim Langfelder has announced Scott Dahl as his appointment to be the next director for the Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Dahl has spent 25 years in association, lodging and tourism industries, generating record revenues in both lodging and association sectors.  Since 2002, Dahl has served as the Director of Membership for the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association and previously served as general manager for various hotels in Illinois and Missouri.

In his current role at the Hotel & Lodging Association, Dahl is directly responsible for the retention and recruitment of 200 hotels in Central and Southern Illinois. He also consults 10 local hotel associations on governmental, marketing, educational and tourism issues.

“Scott has an in-depth understanding of the tourism industry and unique perspective as it relates to the hotel business,” stated Langfelder.  “Scott is experienced in key areas including conference and hotel sales and promotions that will assist in taking the Convention & Visitors Bureau to the next level. I am happy Scott will be leading our bureau team and look forward to seeing the positive impact he will have on our Springfield community.”

Dahl will replace Gina Gemberling, who left the bureau this past January. The City Council will vote on his appointment May 1.
