Lynn Whalen of Springfield was recently installed as vice president/president-elect of the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations Board of Directors at the association’s annual conference in Las Vegas held in March. Whalen will take over as president of NCMPR in 2019.

Whalen is the executive director of public relations and marketing at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, and previously served as treasurer on NCMPR’s board. Before joining LLCC in 2005, she was director of publications and media relations at Illinois College.

Under her leadership at LLCC, the creative team has won numerous national awards, including Educational Advertising Awards sponsored by Higher Education Marketing and Medallion and Paragon awards from NCMPR for excellence in design and communication.   Whalen holds a master’s degree in communication from the University of Illinois Springfield. She is a graduate of the Chair Academy for Leadership and Development and Leadership Springfield.
