Prairie Analytical acquired by Peoria company

Prairie Analytical, which has an environmental testing facility located at 1210 Capital Airport Drive in Springfield as well as a location in Lake in the Hills, Illinois, has been acquired by a Peoria company.

Coulter Companies, Inc. has acquired, through its wholly-owned subsidiary, PDC Laboratories, Inc., the assets of Prairie Analytical Systems, effective February 1, 2018.

Prairie Analytical has served the central and northern Illinois market since 1993, specializing in drinking water, waste water, groundwater and soil testing for private, public and industrial facilities, as well as environmental consulting firms. All of the current employees have received offers to stay on with PDC Labs in their current roles. PDC Labs will utilize the current staff and operate out of the same locations going forward. Jean-Pierre Rouanet will continue to serve as the executive director for the Springfield facility, and Kristen Potter will serve as the Director of Sales & Marketing for PDC Labs, Illinois facilities.

Royal J. Coulter, president of Coulter Companies, Inc., said in a written statement, "We are pleased with the opportunity to acquire the capabilities and skills so highly regarded in the markets Prairie Analytical serves. In particular, we are excited about this merger with Prairie Analytical as it will open up new doors for PDC Labs to serve the environmental consulting sector. I want to thank Bud and Kristen Potter, the owners of Prairie Analytical, for the opportunity to build upon the reputation that they have established in providing reliable and dependable environmental testing services to the Illinois market."

Coulter Companies, Inc. is the largest family-owned environmental services company based in the state of Illinois, and has been in business since 1928. Its corporate headquarters is located in Peoria, Illinois, and it employs over 600 people. In addition to environmental testing facilities, the company owns and operates waste collection, recycling, treatment and disposal facilities across the state.
