Kyle Sitko transitions from banking to family business

Dr. Kyle Sitko has recently joined Sitko Chiropractic, the practice where both his father and brother also work as chiropractors.

A Springfield native, Sitko received his MBA from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois, and worked with the McDonald’s Corporation in Oak Brook before moving back to Springfield in 2010. He then spent five years as a commercial lender with CEFCU in Springfield before deciding to make a career change.

Sitko said he enjoyed the people he worked with at CEFCU, but ultimately didn’t feel fulfilled by a career in finance, even though that had been his college major. “I just couldn’t see myself doing it for another 30 or 35 years,” he said. “I was looking for a change, but I really didn’t want to go to another bank.” After talking to a friend in banking who had recently left his job to go to law school, Sitko decided he also wanted to do something very different with his career path.

In 2014, he enrolled in Logan University’s College of Chiropractic, the same school that his father, Dr. Steven Sitko, and brother, Dr. Casey Sitko, had also attended. After graduating last month, Sitko has now joined the family business located at 205 North Grand Ave. in Springfield.

“My dad has been in practice for almost 40 years,” said Sikto. “He built Springfield Chiropractic Plaza in 1986, and my brother Casey has been there for the last two years.” Sitko mentioned they also plan to have a fourth chiropractor joining the office soon.

Sitko said they see a wide variety of people, from children and teenage athletes to the elderly. “It’s a family practice, we really see all ages,” he said. He noted that they can provide more conservative treatment options for pain before turning to surgery or medication.

In his free time, Sitko enjoys working out, swimming at the YMCA, and biking on the Sangamon Valley Trail.  He’s also an avid University of Missouri sports fan and has traveled all over the country watching the Mizzou Tigers play football.
