Atlantis Pools, based out of Alton, Illinois, closed their Springfield location in December 2016, citing poor sales in the local market. The freestanding building at 3014 Montvale Dr. has been vacant since, and was listed for sale for nearly a year at $299,000. Kyle Killebrew, a broker with The Real Estate Group, purchased it last month for $234,000. “I thought it was a decent opportunity,” he said. “I’m going to do a lot of work to it, paint the exterior and really make it look nicer on the outside.”

The 2,600 square foot building is mostly showroom space with a small storage area. Killebrew said he has no specific plans for the property and that it could be used as office or retail. He noted that it has easy accessibility from Wabash Avenue and 16 parking spaces.

“I’m considering dividing it into two separate units, unless somebody comes along and wants the whole thing,” he said. “It’s got a cool little area where they used to have pools and I want to build an outdoor space. It’s a small building, but I kind of like it.”
