Blue Cross Blue Shield is moving back into previous location

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) is expanding its office space in Springfield. A representative for the company confirmed today (Jan. 17) that they are finalizing a lease for approximately 30,000 sq. ft. of space at 3200 Robbins Road to accommodate about 200 employees.

BCBSIL previously leased space at the Robbins Road location as recently as 2016. The two story office building in the Southwest Plaza office park is nearly 76,000 sq. ft. total. Last summer, accounting firm Kerber, Eck & Braeckel LLP left their office in the Myers Building downtown and moved into the second floor of the Robbins Road building. Perten Instruments, a worldwide food and agricultural testing company, moved into space on the south side of the first floor earlier this month after more than 20 years on South Sixth Street Frontage Road.

BCBSIL will now be taking the remaining space on both the first and second floor of the Robbins Road building and expects to begin occupying it by March 2018. They also plan to keep their current office at 3045 Liberty Dr., which is already at full capacity.
