Public hearing on Springfield’s comprehensive plan Nov 16

On Monday, Oct. 16, Springfield Mayor Jim Langfelder announced the 2017-2037 Comprehensive Plan for the City of Springfield: Forging a New Legacy. The plan’s steering committee was compromised of city staff and citizen members, in partnership with the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission.

The proposed plan is currently available for review online at the City of Springfield’s website, http://springfield.il.us. Hard copies of the plan can be viewed at the Springfield City Clerk’s Office (300 S. Seventh St., first floor), Lincoln Library (326 S. Seventh St., main desk) and the Springfield-Sangamon County Regional Planning Commission (200 S. Ninth St., Room 212, county building).

The public is invited to submit comments on the proposed plan via email to [email protected] or in writing to the City of Springfield’s Mayor’s Office, 800 E. Monroe, Room 300, Springfield, Illinois, 62701. All comments are due no later than Nov. 16.

Additionally, a public hearing will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16, 5:30 p.m., in the City Council Chambers, located at 300 S. Seventh St., third floor. It will be after this forum that the Planning and Zoning Commission will make their final recommendations to the city council.
