HSHS St. John’s Hospital begins cancer center renovations

HSHS St. John’s Hospital has begun construction to expand their cancer center. Upon completion, the cancer center will include an infusion center, medical oncology physician clinics and radiation oncology services. The new center will house all outpatient cancer services under one roof, allowing for more patients to be seen in an expedited manner.

The hospital celebrated the expansion with an open house on Wednesday, Sept. 20, that featured renderings and floor plans on display as well as site tours and the opportunity to interact with HSHS and cancer center officials. The hospital plans to collaborate with members of the Springfield community in the near future to fill the walls with stories of peace, healing and tranquility.

St. John’s Hospital is the flagship hospital for Hospital Sisters Health System. Since its founding in 1875, the hospital has expanded to include the Prairie Heart Institute, St. John’s Children’s Hospital, St. John’s Women’s Services, St. John’s Neurosciences Institute, St. John’s Cancer Institute, orthopedic services and AthletiCare.
