H.D. Smith, the United States’ largest privately held pharmaceutical wholesale distributor, announced a plan on Sept. 19 to relocate a portion of their Springfield employees to a new location later this fall.
H.D. Smith employs 1,000 associates, approximately 375 of whom work out of Springfield for the company’s flagship headquarters, which are located at 3063 Fiat Ave. Currently, half of the Springfield employees are working out of leased space at 3201 W. White Oaks Dr., and will be transitioned to a new leased space within the Wells Fargo facility at 4800 Wabash Ave. beginning in November 2017.
H.D. Smith is looking forward to the transition, and believes it will lead to increased opportunity for collaboration, camaraderie and room for growth. According to Dale Smith, chairman and CEO of H.D. Smith Holding Company, “Our ties to the Springfield community will continue as we pursue our mission to improve patient outcomes through our work with pharmacies nationwide.”
