New GM at White Oaks as mall adds new stores

White Oaks Mall in Springfield has a new general manager, and the mall is adding new stores.

Clay Emerich takes over this month as general manager at White Oaks, as former general manager Nick Strause moves to another Simon Property Group mall in Indiana.

The mall is also adding a handful of stores and relocating or renovating others. On June 26, greeting card retailer Hallmark reopened within the mall's lower level Macy's wing.

On July 1, Diva's Hair Salon opened in the upper level of the Sear's wing, while The Kreative Lounge opened in the lower level of the Dick's Sporting Goods wing and Lost World Furniture opened in the upper level of the Bergner's Wing.

Victoria's Secret is set to reopen on July 29 after a remodel, along with its new PINK storefront on the upper level of the Dick's Sporting Goods wing. Mattress Liquidators opens Aug. 1 in the same wing.

Additionally, Schoony's Produce, owned by first-generation farmer Ben Schoonover, has opened in the White Oaks parking lot off of Iles Avenue. The stand will offer produce, flowers and seasonal items through the holidays.

“We are thrilled to bring new offerings to White Oaks Mall this summer,” said Sophia Piersma, director of marketing and business development at White Oaks. “Each of these stores provide a unique touch to the mall, and supports the growing demand for variety in the central Illinois area.”
