The Illinois Department of Corrections plans to build a new office at its headquarters in Springfield.
The cost of the project will be shared between IDOC and property owner Government Property Fund LLC.
The Sangamon County Land Development & Subdivision Planning Committee is scheduled on June 8 to examine plans for a new building (PDF) at 1401 Concordia Court in Springfield. The site is home to IDOC's statewide administrative offices.
Richard Bossert, spokesman for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services, says the state recently renewed its lease agreement with Government Property Fund LLC for the site. Bossert said the new office is meant to meet disability access regulations for the 357 employees at the site. IDOC has occupied the site since 1979.
"Nothing has been determined as far as costs or construction companies for the work needed," Bossert said, "and improvement costs are shared between the property owner and the using agency."
Government Property Fund LLC is owned by Mark Friedman, president of Fulcrum Property in Sacramento, California, and part owner of the Sacramento Kings NBA franchise.
