Springfield-based Horace Mann Educators Corporation has named Bret Conklin executive vice president and chief financial officer.
Conklin, who started working at Horace Mann 15 years ago, has served as acting CFO since January due to the hospitalization and passing of Horace Mann’s former CFO, Dwayne Hallman. Conklin previously served as senior vice president, controller and chief accounting officer.
“I have great confidence in Bret’s ability to build upon the strong foundation that Dwayne was instrumental in establishing in our finance organization,” said Marita Zuraitis, president and CEO of Horace Mann. “Bret is a seasoned corporate finance executive whose experience, leadership, and passion for the educator market we serve make him the ideal candidate to fill this critical role.”
Horace Mann says Conklin will continue to act as chief accounting officer in his new position.
